The CCCC is defined by its four Levels of Intervention:

a) Projects:
Following its past experiences from cross-cultural projects, the Theater des Augenblicks will develop, plan and implement - along with its network partners - projects in the cultural area. The goal is to enhance new developments in the practical sense of a multidisciplinary approach in the arts.

The French philosopher Alain Badiou5 - in his books “L’être et l’Événement” (1988) and “Logiques des mondes. L’être et l’événement, 2.” (2006) – identifies four domains in which a subject (who, it is important to note, becomes a subject through this process) can potentially witness an event: love, science, politics and art. Badiou’s most general goal can be described as the effort to expose and make sense of the potential for profound, transformative innovation in any situation. The “Evental Site”(site événementiel) is a precondition for change in the situation. According to Badiou, the event what is radically unpredictable, unknown and unknowable has the status of an unconscious moment in which the possibility of change is all. The CCCC is particularly interested in exploring the potential of Badiou’s discourse, to develop and realize projects with a substantial focus on the confrontation of an Evental Site in conflict with time:

• If the stages of time manifest themselves by our position to them in time, in which relation to our position in time is the so-called “contemporary” whenever we speak of contemporary art?

• Are there gaps in our time-consciousness, open spaces which are determined by our collective memory and art?
What is happening with the contemporariness in art?

• How can the absolute unpredictability of the event be the source of the emergence of the radically new? Would we even recognize the “radically new”? How?

We tend to use the adjective „contemporary“ as a secondary attribute. Yet there is a constant stream of new ideas which implies the existence of alternate „truths“. These truths are masked in our daily discourse on art, however. Predetermined objectives act as “truths” which rule the framework of artistic processes to a certain degree. They are the “objective” criteria by which we decide the success or failure of an artistic expression. If we want to be open to the truly new, the truly contemporary, we must accept that we can apply objective criteria of success only to a certain limited degree.

The CCCC would like to intervene at this point and dissolve fixed constraints, it calls for a professional confrontation on a practical as well as an aesthetic level to unmask the “given” of our discourse on art.

We share the opinion that the event, in its presentation, cannot be reduced to factual knowledge, evidence or proof. The event as transformative “Evental Site” is an experience.

b) Research:
TdA works in a interdisciplinary, integrated and
participatory way.

Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the Theater des
Augenblicks looks at ways in which art engages the world around us with urgent social, cultural and political issues. We therefore explore culture within the framework of critical theory, philosophy and cultural politics. Our interests range from issues of cultural difference, performativity, visual display, aurality, the encounters with audiences to the production of subjectivities.

The Theater des Augenblicks applies its long-established expertise to the Competence Centre for International Cultural Networking and Consulting to further develop cultural identities by means of artistic research, innovative art expressions and productions in collaboration with partners from all over the world.

The Theatre des Augenblicks is committed to exploring – and producing – new forms of contemporary art, theoretical and practical, in an environment that is culturally diverse and intellectually challenging.

c) Concept-Development:
In recent years the Theater des Augenblicks has acquired a comprehensive know-how in the development of various artistic, theoretical and strategic concepts. The implementation of EU projects has often led to the Theater des Augenblicks being asked to play an advisory role regarding the development of strategic plans and innovative working models. The Theater des Augenblicks team has worked in over 30 countries in Europe and worldwide. The Centre continues to work in Vienna, Austria but also in Turkey and Balkans.

The CCCC offers expertise in:
• research
• knowledge management
• concept development
• institutional development and capacity building
• consulting (in the areas of management and financing)

We bring creative and unconventional approaches to all of our projects, everything we do is based on the highest artistic standards and research.

Our unique approach comes from the interaction and
co-operation of various partners, together with a number of academic departments, smaller centres and units.

We believe that success in the field of culture, and thus also in cultural management, depends not only on the ability to implement a project immediately or, if necessary, to deal with and respond in an improvised and flexible manner to challenges and issues at short notice, but also on the ability to create in very early stages the potential for long-term success.

The Theater des Augenblicks, in its function as a Centre of Cultural Institutions, supports also public administrations in the development of a strategic cultural management. There are external and internal factors to take into account and the use of existing resources and the potential have to be discussed to clarify the strategic and operational objectives through the implementation of appropriate strategies.

d) Education and training
On a long-term basis, the Theater des Augenblicks as a Centre for “International Cultural Networking and Consulting” is devoted to the development of an internationally oriented education and training model and the establishment of a
creative center for the performing arts.

It is distinct from other educational institutions offered on the market, as it offers high level ‘tailor-made’ processes with an emphasis on the independent work of each person interested in individual tuning processes and learning-by-doing.
Those tailor made processes are about the freedom to experiment, to think differently, to stay an individual, to get encouraged to look beyond preconceptions and the traditional boundaries of training and education, etc.

The training and education programs at the Centre will be organized periodically, upon expressed interest or request of project participants, students, partners, etc. Our commitment is to life-long-learning processes and concept-based-programs where the structure and methodology is created case by case and based upon the specific needs of the idea and/or involved project participants.

The general structure of the tailor-made program forms the basis for a transformative experience of selected participants and project ideas, generating knowledge and stimulating self-discovery trough creative, radical thinking and practices.

The programs combine the development of practical skills (“learning-by-doing processes”) with self-reflection and theoretical study aimed on an understanding of the contexts of
the arts in contemporary society.

They furnish participants with a grounding in the managerial skills necessary to develop new ideas and original projects. The selected participants will be provided with appropriate working space, and have access to the various laboratories and facilities of the Theater des Augenblicks.

All educational and training programs of the Centre are built on long term commitment to providing personal, vocational and professional training for performing artists who work in a variety of settings. They aim to increase awareness of the diversity of the working methods and design effective and sustainable arts projects in a wide range of cultural milieus.

Using a framework of reflective practices, the modules intend to investigate the uses of arts in different contexts and aim to encourage debate on the function of contemporary initiatives.
